Hanoi – On May 10, 2024, the VNU University of Law, in collaboration with the Inha University School of Law, Korea, hosted the international scientific conference titled “New Development Trends in Certain Legal Fields in Vietnam and Korea – Comparison and Dialogue.” The
conference featured numerous experts and scholars from both institutions.
Representing the VNU School of Law were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Thị Quế Anh
(Rector), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trịnh Tiến Việt (Vice Rector), along with faculty
members from various departments. From the Inha University School of Law,
participants included Professor Jung Young Jin (Dean), Professor Lee Kyeong Ju,
Dr. Choi Jun-Hyuk, Professor Chae Young-geun, Professor Kim Min Bae, Professor
Youngjin Jung, Professor Soomi Lee, Professor Son Young-Hwa, and Professor Kim
Hyun Jin. Additionally, the conference welcomed Mr. Eun-Sook Chang (President
of the Korean Association in Vietnam) and Mr. Choi Jae Jin (President of the
Korea Foundation for International Exchange in Hanoi). In her
opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Thị Quế Anh noted the history of
collaboration between the VNU
University of Law (previously
the VNU School of
Law) and Inha University School of
Law. She emphasized the significance of this joint international conference in
exploring new legal development trends. She highlighted that Inha University’s
strength in technology research complements VNU University of Law’s focus on
modern legal studies, paving the way for sustainable and effective
collaboration.
Representing Inha University, Professor Jung Young Jin expressed his admiration for Vietnam's rapid development in recent years and his confidence that Vietnam will achieve its development goals by 2045. He highlighted the importance of the conference in providing a platform for experts from both countries to share academic insights and experiences. He noted that many Korean companies investing in Vietnam need more essential legal knowledge about the Vietnamese legal system. Thus, he hoped the conference would bridge this gap, fostering a better understanding of legal frameworks among businesses and the public in both nations. The conference was divided into two sessions. Session 1, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trịnh Tiến Việt and Professor Jung Young Jin, featured six presentations: 1. New Trends in Vietnamese Criminal Law and Some Emerging Issues (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trịnh Quốc Toản, VNU School of Law) 5. Legal Regulations on the Circular Economy (Professor Chae Young-geun, Inha University School of Law) 6. In a
vibrant academic atmosphere, experts and scholars from both institutions
presented their research, discussing various legal fields, from public to private law. These discussions
provided comparative insights between Vietnamese and Korean laws. Based on
their analyses, the experts offered recommendations for suitable legal reforms
in both countries. |
